no smoking
The proposed plan to do away with smoking for US soldiers is to take place over the next 5 to 10 years: “The Defense Department’s top health officials are studying the report’s suggestions and will make recommendations to the Pentagon’s policy team and Defense Secretary Robert Gates.” Now with the high suicide rates due to the extreme stress combat soldiers are under, I say this is a perfect time to throw some more stress @ them…smh
As you can imagine army personnel aren’t too happy about this study and forthcoming recommendations to the Pentagon, “Gen. Russel Honore, best known for coordinating military relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina-affected areas with an ever-present stogie. He said soldiers at war need to puff.”
I think this is much to do about nothing as well as some pencil pushers fantasy of a smoke free army. Anybody that doesn’t know smoking is bad for your health is a damn fool. Futhermore, it’s up to the individual to chose when to quit. This is coming from somebody who quit smoking after 8 years or so on April 4th, 2009, and I was stressed thee hell out, so imagine how a combat soldier is going to react. The upside is, of course, better health as well as a long time table of 5 to 10 yrs to kick the habit…
